Was this the last weekend of sunshine before Autumn really sets in? That was the rumour and I didn’t want to risk missing any of that sun so I didn’t mind waiting for 20 minutes to secure a table on the footpath outside Coco Momo in Marylebone.
In the summer spirit I had the smoked mackerel and brown rice salad (pictured). It was a pretty concoction sprinkled with walnuts and cranberries along with various seeds and sprouts that I am sure are very good for me. Sadly the salad tasted somewhat greasy with the oily mackerel and oily dressing combining to ensure that it probably wasn’t the healthy and light choice I had imagined. MTV boyfriend tried the sirloin steak sandwich which was served with chunky home cut chips. He thought that the steak was very good, however the sandwich itself was pretty plain with only a smear of red onion relish to enliven it.
In order to prolong our spell in the sunshine we ordered dessert of sticky toffee pudding to share. Sticky toffee pudding is one of my all time favourites, however Coco Momo’s sticky toffee was a bit dry and served luke warm at best. Our coffees were decent enough by London standards, but not up to the calibre of Providores down the road. In a prime corner location on Marylebone high street, Coco Momo may have the sunshine in it’s favour, but it needs to work on the food.
