Gourmet Giveaway – Godiva Chocolates

GOCH0150
I lived in Belgium for six months when I was at university and managed to gain a fair amount of weight from all that beer, fritten and of course chocolate. Chocolate is a national obsession in Belgium and it is was a common occurrence for one of my slim Belgian house mates to tuck into toast with chocolate spread on it for breakfast.

Fresh strawberries dipped in chocolate

I try to limit my chocolate consumption to after breakfast these days but my resolve may be broken by the close proximity of the tiny Godiva shop in Fenchurch street to my work. The chocolates in the shop contain some all year favourites like their best selling hazelnut chocolate and seasonal ranges. In summer time they make the most incredible “chocolate kebabs” of strawberries dipped in Godiva chocolate and threaded on a skewer (£5.25). In Winter, look out for rich, creamy Godiva hot chocolate drinks. For those amongst you who have a Belgian like addiction to chocolate, Godiva also does a luxury chocolate spread to put on your toast in the mornings.
Chocolates on offer at Godiva

Godiva invited me down to the shop to test out some chocolates and just so I don’t look greedy they are also going to send a box of their seasonal summer range of chocolates worth £24.33 to a lucky Gourmet Chick reader. As usual, all you have to do to enter is leave a comment below.

  1. About 20 years ago I lived in France for a few months, before I went to university… and that’s where I first came across both Godiva and Leonidas chocolates.

I tended to buy the Leonidas more often as their shops were nearer to where I was and also, I was on a student budget. But I loved Godiva too.

And then we had a Godiva not far from me, in the Brentcross shopping centre, where I’d treat myself now and again, but it closed a few years ago and no more Godiva for Kavey.

    Sad Kavey.

  2. ooo chocolate heaven! Love Godiva chocolates and hot chocolate! I didn’t know they do chococolate spread!

  3. Can Godiva invite me down to taste some chocolate too … they are absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for running the comp and sharing this box of deliciousness with us!

  4. hmmm I was salvating so much I completely missed putting my name on my comment and now invalidated my entry! But so you know the comment above was by @nelsonclaire

  8. heavenly … what more can i say?

    thanks for the giveaway!

  9. Ooooh I know what you mean about their drinks. I had both their hot and cold chocolate drinks when I was in Brussels and loved them.

    Great giveaway! 🙂

  10. When I lived in japan I found it so hard to come by fruit (expensive and just not the same as in the uk) and chocolate. All the chocolate out there was American import high sugar stuff that I just couldn’t eat. Or there was the Australian chocolate with it’s weird anti melting ingredients.

Godiva was my (slightly expensive but oh so worth it) indulgence. I used to buy a tiny box every pay day and have one every tine I need a pick me up.

    Mmmmm,,,,

  11. ooo lovely. These sound delicious.

  12. Oooh! Currently in the process of writing a chocolate review!

  16. I’ve never made it to the shop thus far, but those dipped strawberries are ridiculously tempting…

  17. Are people really trying to win chocolate in the middle of the night or is blogger on a different time zone … Either way sounds like a top quality chocolatey treat.

  18. It would be for the wife, not me. Honest…

  19. I try to stay out of the Godiva shop but if I was to win Godiva chocolate, well I’m pretty sure that’s just a sign that I should be eating it…
