Even in Melbourne’s (much!) colder climate Betty’s Melbourne store still retains a tropical holiday feel thanks to the colourful tiling in shades of blue, comfy aqua cushioned chairs and big glass
I’ve mentioned before how obsessed I am with Scotch Eggs. So I’m pleased to see them appearing on a handful of Melbourne cafe menus including new opening New School Canteen. Let’s be clear though, New School Canteen is not really a cafe and it’s certainly not the sort of canteen I remember from school.
After the depressing US election results a little comfort eating was in order. New opening Bedford Street in Collingwood fits the bill with the deep fryer on high rotation along with some classic US dishes. The restaurant on the corner of Bedford and Johnson street has a prime corner position with big windows letting in
There’s no Shake Shack in Australia but we are seeing plenty of homages to the cult US burger chain. There’s Betty’s Burgers in Noosa, Jack’s Burgers in Sydney and now Royal Stacks in Melbourne. Royal Stacks has opened its first store (I’m sure there will be more) right in the heart of Melbourne’s business district
