Blue Range Estate Villas: Gourmet Chick on the Mornington Peninsula

There’s nothing I love more than a sneaky mini break and the Mornington Peninsula is the perfect spot to indulge as it’s just over an hour from Melbourne.  I was there last weekend for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival following the Wine Food Farmgate trail and was invited to stay at some just opened boutique accomodation at the Blue Range Estate winery.

Sunset over Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula

The address of Blue Range Estate is Rosebud but it’s actually situated right up the top of a huge hill on the border of Rosebud and Red Hill. The view from the winery looking out over the vines is phenomenal, you can see right over the entire peninsula.  At dusk, mobs of kangaroos hopped through the vineyard – a perfect place to take overseas visitors. If I had made it out of the King size bed I would be able to let you know about the sunrise but sadly I was far too comfortable.

There are only five rooms which are almost built into the hill and they have been beautifully decorated by owner Jo.  A muted palette of blues and greys is instantly relaxing and you really do feel like you’ve stepped inside a home interiors magazine.

Each villa includes a huge bed and a separate bathroom which has the best rain shower a girl could hope for.  There’s a wall mounted TV with wifi included and best of all Netflix.  Perfect timing for a visit with the new season of House of Cards just dropped.

Breakfast is a self serve affair. There’s a mini bar area in each room which includes yoghurt, bread, croissants, fruit and a Nespresso machine so you can get your caffeine fix.  This is probably the only part of the Blue Range Estate Villas which didn’t wow me as in such a great food region I expected a bit more than supermarket croissants in plastic packaging, particularly at this high price point.

But brekkie aside, if you want to chill out, relax and get away from it all on the Mornington Peninsula Blue Range Estate Villas is the perfect place to stay.  We could easily drive to the great wineries, food stores and beaches but were also able to enjoy retreating to the peace and quiet of the winery.
